An ode to our Mom

Every 4th of July, my mom made a chocolate cake flag cake. She meticulously cut Twizzlers for the red stripes. I just bought the bite-sized ones.

I always hoped she would make it a white cake as I don't like chocolate cake. So this year, as I made my first, I planned to make chocolate to uphold the tradition. Happily for me, when I went to get a cake mix from my pantry, I discovered that I only had white. Too bad so sad. haha.

Baby Shower

This was for my sister-in-law's shower in May. Laura chose a jungle theme for her baby's room, so I made a giraffe cake. I used 2 9x13 cakes and cut them to shape.

Joshua Daniel arrived 3 days early on June 6. We're so happy to have him in our family :-)

Wedding Cake

Our first wedding cake. It was a big task, but a lot of fun. We were happy with how it turned out. Thankfully, this is one we did together. The flowers are real.

Book Cake

I made this cake for the teachers at our daughter's school. This week is Teacher Appreciation week. (I used a new kind of frosting which I think I need more practice with. I had a hard time managing it. It is a type of fondant, but not made with almond paste.)....Andrea

Dog Cake

My sister-in-law and I made this cake for my mother-in-law's birthday. It's a pound cake with a LOT of frosting to build up the face, legs & tail. It resembles my mother-in-law's dog, Cody.
