This was from September, but I apparently forgot to post it. He got another baseball cake as his party was playing softball at the park with family & friends. The letters of his name are done in Pittsburgh Pirate style.

Money Cake

My husband's cousin turned 14 recently. He asked for money to buy shoes, rather than presents, so I figured I'd carry that into his cake. 

Happy 8th Birthday!

I made this for Hannah's actual birthday when family came over for cake and ice cream. Rather than tinting the frosting, I bought strawberry frosting (yummy). Perhaps compared to others, this cake is less impressive, but it shows that you can make something out of the ordinary without being over the top....Andrea

I made this for a birthday for a friend of ours whose nickname is Aquaman. I wasn't convinced that I could make the face look right, so instead, I took his picture and printed it out from the computer and stuck in on the cake....Andrea

An ode to our Mom

Every 4th of July, my mom made a chocolate cake flag cake. She meticulously cut Twizzlers for the red stripes. I just bought the bite-sized ones.

I always hoped she would make it a white cake as I don't like chocolate cake. So this year, as I made my first, I planned to make chocolate to uphold the tradition. Happily for me, when I went to get a cake mix from my pantry, I discovered that I only had white. Too bad so sad. haha.
