I made this cake for Tim's 30th birthday party. My husband is the organist for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who just happened to win the Stanley Cup in June.
It's 8-layers stacked on top of an upside-down tube pan (to add height). There's also a large dowel rod in the middle to keep it upright.
We grew up in Western New York, but now both live in Pennsylvania...only at opposite corners. We don't see each other nearly as often as we'd like, but we talk frequently, especially about our 8 children...Andrea has 4: two girls and two boys ranging from 10 down to 4 and Amanda has 4: twins, a boy and a girl who are 5, a boy who is 3, and a girl who is 1. Needless to say, that produces a lot of cakes necesitating a continual supply of new ideas.
