Wedding Cake

I had the privilege of making a wedding cake for a friend recently. I really enjoyed working on it and was pleased with the outcome. It looks like fondant, but is actually all buttercream, smoothed with the Viva paper towel method.

Math Baby Shower

My sister-in-law Laura is a math teacher. For her baby shower, I made baby blocks, but with math symbols instead.

Basket of Flowers

To celebrate our Grandma's birthday, Laura & I made a basket of flowers cake. It was 3 layers (chocolate cake, marshmallow fluff, vanilla cake, peanut butter, chocolate cake) with a chocolate peanut butter butter cream basket weave. Yummy!

Another Farewell

We've had too many of these at our church lately! This time, the happy couple is moving to Spain.

Tennessee

Some friends of ours moved to Tennessee, so I made this cake for their last Sunday at our church. They were excited about moving to their new home with a long flat driveway (which really doesn't exist in Pittsburgh), and gardening & fishing.

Finally Fondant!

I finally made a fondant cake! It wasn't as difficult as I was expecting. The cake was 3 layers. All white cake, 1 filled with lemon curd, 1 filled with raspberry jelly. Yummy.

Mothers' Day

My sister-in-law and I always try to make something nice for our mother-in-law each year. She is so good to us that it's just a very small way for us to show our appreciation. This year we made a bouquet of roses. They were mini cupcakes skewered into a vase. The leaves are white chocolate formed on toothpicks.

Switzerland/USA Cake

There was a Swiss student attending our church for a while. I made this cake for his last Sunday before returning home.

Grandpap's 80th

Tim's grandfather shares a birthday with my twins. It's always fun to be at his birthday parties. My sister-in-law Laura and I made him this patriotic cake this year.

Little Mermaid & Hockeyey

My twins turned five today. Here's their birthday cakes.

Joey loves hockey, specifically the Pittsburgh Penguins. I put 11 on the sleeves in honor of his favorite player, Jordan Staal. The rest of the players' numbers are on the edge of the cake.

Bekah wanted a Little Mermaid cake, but I didn't want to do the dress like I did last year, so this is what resulted.

Erika - 1

My little girl loves Eat N' Park cookies.

She was the picture-perfect first birthday party cake eater. :-)

Batman Cow Cake

My youngest boy just turned 3. For years he has loved all things cow. I was all geared up for a fantastic cow cake, but the week before his party he started arguing that he needed a Batman cake. I wasn't willing to completely abandon the cow theme, so I merged themes. Introducing probably the first and only Batman cow cake.

I think he liked it. :-)
